camping

what’s on my mind lately?  a weekend getaway full of fresh air, campfires and, of course, lots & lots of s’mores (ever try making them with peanut butter cups?  i swear, you won’t go back).  sadly nothing is on the calendar…yet!

do you guys like camping?  and the big question…tent or cabin?

  1. so i’m not a huge fan of camping… i don’t like bugs or sleeping on the ground or wilderness much but i DO love a good campfire, gossiping and smores!!! :)

  2. I usually camp once a year and as you know, I just got back from a trip. Definitely tent although I wouldn’t turn down a cabin either. :)

I love camping. It’s a great way to disconnect from all the conveniences of life, including the internet and just be. It’s hard to do that sometimes for me, so when I simply don’t have a choice, I enjoy it all the more.

  3. I’d definitely go for a cabin. I have a thing with dirt. I don’t like it. I know that might sound a little crazy, but it’s just the way I am. But I would love to go camping and spend time outdoors, make smores around a fire…as long as I could retreat to a cabin at night. (I think I’d be safer from the mosquitoes there too.)

  4. I went camping ALL the time as a kid!! I was even a “wilderness” teacher at a summer camp during college, can you believe that?! But unfortunately, I haven’t spent a night in the great outdoors for years. But it sounds like a great idea for my “one of these days” list! BTW – I’m all about tents! I feel like staying in cabins is sort of like cheating!

  5. I’m definitely a tent gal – something about sleeping in a tent is so zen – although after a day or 2 i’m ready for a bed!!

  6. It’s hard for me to choose one, but I haven’t really toughed it out much for camping in general. I have a tent, but depending on the conditions, I might opt for a cabin. :P

  7. I don’t really do the outdoors, but if I had to choose I would go for a cabin. The idea of a tent on the ground gives me the heebie jeebies. The s’mores with peanut butter cups though? I’m definitely trying that! Yum.

  8. I never went camping as a kid (or went to camp), but I love camping gear! Love all these finds (especially that t-shirt), and now you’ve inspired me to officially add s’mores to my vacation plans next week.

  9. Awesome! I love that we were on the same lantern wavelength!
;) Also, that is SUCH a cute tee…”I sleep on the ground” That is perfect for my friend who loves to camp….storing that away for future reference! Thanks hun!

  10. i grew up as a child going to summer camp, every single year, same season, meeting with same friends from all parts of my country. such great memories ….i can feel you…

ps. thank you for your visits & comments!!!

  11. Ohhh iiih.. I do and I don’t.. Camping here in Australia is a no-no for me, and it has all to do with the wildlife and creepy crawlies. I could not sleep at all knowing there are two meter snakes and fist size spiders crawling about my tent. But!..
In Sweden yes – I especially love camping in early Autumn. After the mozzies have moved on and the air is crisp.
My best camping memory is from the Norwegian mountains (in the West). I was there summer skiiing on one of the glaciers and we pitched a tent approximately 1200m above sea level near a glacial lake. It was heaven!

  12. The princess does not so much love camping. Don’t get me wrong, I love the beauty of the forest. I LOVE the camp fire … and s’mores … or, more likely, ‘mallows burnt to a crisp! As for my preference, I want either my own tent, in an area with restrooms :) , my own trailer–or a luxury cabin. Those little cabins with lumpy mattresses, leaky faucets and creepy floor boards–IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE–give me the weeby-jeebies! Eeh.

  13. Oh how I love camping…my husband and i went backpacking last weekend. Wow. Hiking with 30 pounds on your back is not the most fun thing ever. It’s worth it though – finding a spot to camp and being the only one for miles is really cool. I keep meaning to write about out trip on my blog but this week has been ridiculous….
