{alt summit recap}
Posted on January 28, 2011
i’m back from salt lake city! (well, i’ve been back since sunday – trying to get caught up!) and no, i didn’t see any sundance movies…but who needs movies when you can just walk the streets of park city, utah and see liv tyler (i got a pic of her…profile!), andie macdowell & milton from office space (to which my hubby immediately said “oh you mean stephen root” uh, sure)
i’ll try and keep my gushing about alt summit to a minimum…in 2 words…it rocked! it’s hard not to be inspired when you’re surrounded by amazing and talented bloggers. but more than the classes & sessions (my head is seriously ready to explode from all the ideas and i’ve now got an even longer to-do list!!) – it was getting to meet all these amazing people – and the friendships that developed. i already miss you all!
i know some of you have been asking what we learned – the biggest thing i’ve taken away from alt is that it’s better to take a break, then to just post hastily. i think we all feel that pressure to have regular content. but if you’re like me, you’re only human (i’m assuming my readers are human – although i’d welcome any dogs to the blog!)…and there’s only so much that can be done in one day! so take the time…
it’s much better to have quality over quantity posts…
original posts…
posts that you’re passionate about…
build a community by getting to know your readers & engaging with them…
and above all, just be yourself.

Great recap and photos, Piper! I think I may visit Park City (or is it Sun City?) in the summer when it’s quiet and perfectly charming. I always prefer quiet. I have to say though, I feel like Alt has put so much pressure on me to be a better blogger. So much to do!

it’s funny how things happen. just last night i was feeling frustrated because i couldn’t think of anything interesting to write about. then today i’m scrolling through my twitter feed and discover you, and then your blog, and then this post. thanks for the advice, i feel better knowing that i’m not the only one who feels a little lax in the inspiring content department sometimes
February 10th, 2011 @ 8:25 am
you’re definitely not alone in that! glad you found me – welcome
