we’re going camping this weekend – finally.  i’m looking forward to escaping the city, hiking, playing games, getting my zen on in front of the fire and just getting lots of fresh air (oh and eating plenty of s’mores!!) nothing is better than sitting in front of the campfire and just talking…ooh and telling ghost stories (somehow ours always end up more silly than scary!) what are some of your favorite summer activities?

{find + seek…exclamation point!}

if you haven’t noticed already, i’ll just come out and say it…i’m a huge fan of exclamation points.  in fact, i always have to edit my use of them because i find that i could pretty much end every sentence i write with one.   i never thought much about it until i read the editor’s letter from real simple last month and she spoke about how she’s a fan and finds it energizing.   i couldn’t agree more!  i think it’s because i write the way i talk – and i’m pretty animated when i talk – so how best to get that across through writing?  lots of exclamation points!!  i mean what would you rather do?   ”clean the house” or “clean the house!”  i rest my case.

are you an exclamation point user?  or in my case, an over-user?! 

from the editor’s letter:   ”sometimes i think americans must have invented the exclamation mark-it’s their state of mind”.

what’s on my mind lately?  a weekend getaway full of fresh air, campfires and, of course, lots & lots of s’mores (ever try making them with peanut butter cups?  i swear, you won’t go back).  sadly nothing is on the calendar…yet!

my dream?  to ride my bike to our local farmer’s market.  my reality?  to just get myself, one of these days, to our local farmer’s market!!  it’s been awhile – think i need to remedy that this weekend!  do you guys shop at your local market?  how often do you go?

i’m just 3 days away from heading south to the florida keys…not that i’m counting or anything! there’s nothing better than traveling and getting away…and the fun of getting all the things you need for your escape!  no matter where we go, i usually have a bag full of magazines and books with me, as well as, our ipod loaded up – they’re all a basic travel staple! (even if it’s just for a night, chances are i’ll have a bunch of reading material with me!)

how about you…what are your travel essentials?
(btw…isn’t the luggage tag great?! too fun!)

{find + seek…a day at the beach}

we’re going on vacation in 2 weeks and it’s all i can think about lately (hence the beach inspired etsy finds!)…especially since this time we’re actually going someplace!!  (don’t worry though, i have some fantastic guest bloggers lined up!)  we’re heading to the florida keys (islamorada to be specific) where my aunt and uncle are lucky enough to call it home (and gracious enough to let us stay in their awesome guest house!).  if you haven’t been to the keys before, it’s such an amazingly beautiful place to visit.  i’m looking forward to just relaxing and taking in the sights, heading down to key west for the day and checking out the fun night life there and maybe doing some snorkeling or fishing…ahh, bliss! 

but i need some help from you guys…we’re staying in miami (i think south beach) for 2 days since my hubby and i have never visited there before.

any tips on places to go?  or good restaurants?  and my fave…any shopping tips??!

{find + seek…picnic}

we’re half way through the week – woo hoo!  i’ve definitely had some ups and downs this week with working on launching my online store.  it’s mostly me trying to break past all the fears that come up (don’t you hate that critical inner voice – there’s got to be a way to silence her!!). 

the exciting part right now is that i’m working on compiling a “catalog” of products that i would like to carry in my store (it’s a huge list so far!).  as you may have noticed, i haven’t been able to post twice a day right now – working on opening the store is taking alot of time and attention right now.  but as i have time i’ll keep throwing an extra post up here and there along with daily posts! 

for cool etsy finds this week…my mind is all about relaxation since i feel like i haven’t had a moment to breathe lately!  so the thought of an afternoon picnic sounds like heaven to me.  hmm, maybe we should do that for shake it up this weekend?!

do you guys like to go on picnics?  what do you like to do on your picnics?  i’m all about hanging out with my hubby, reading, playing fetch with the dogs…and even catching a little nap!

i think i have gardening on my mind since we worked on our landscaping over the weekend…we finally aren’t the creepy, overgrown house!!  it only took us 4 years. (and btw, i think the yellow vintage watering can is just about the coolest thing!!)
