cool modern gifts

happy friday everyone!  i’m kind of bursting with excitement over here – these linen market bags just came in and they’re just too cool!!  love that it says “carry” on one side and “goods” on the other – can’t you see yourself heading off shopping with one of these lovelies?   or better yet…a road trip!  they’ll be on the store site this weekend!

have a wonderful weekend everyone – off to spend the rest of hubby’s vacation with him!

{rah + rah jewelry}

cool modern gifts

my jewelry box would love any of these beauties from rah + rah jewelry!  love that their concept is to turn ancient jewelry into modern, wearable pieces and that their inspiration comes from archaeological pieces.  it’s a modern day indiana jones vibe! (well, if indiana jones were into jewelry!)

is anyone else into gift guides as much as i am?  come christmas, i can’t wait to get all my december magazines to see what’s on everyone lists and check out all the gift guides.  then inevitably, i realize that it’s really me that i find gift ideas for since most of the people i buy gifts for aren’t into the same things as i am.  darn it.

mother’s day is bittersweet for me since my mom passed away a few years ago.  not only do i miss just spending the day with her, but i miss buying her gifts since she was one of my favorite people to shop for!  so i thought it would be nice to give you some gift ideas based on what i would get my mom (including my picks from my own store).  thanks mom for the inspiration!!

shake it up {splendor in the grass}

cool modern gifts

it’s back!!  that’s right, after a long hiatus i’m bringing the shake it up series back!  for those of you new to the blog, the idea behind the shake it up series is to do just that – shake things up!  it’s all about adding a bit of creativity and spontaneity to everyday life (in other words – putting down that darn to-do list!!).

which makes it funny that we’re starting back up with a to-do list…but with a twist…a fun to-do list.  one that’s inspired by april’s song of the month “splendor in the grass”.  i created my own “splendor in the grass” to do list (shown above).  so this weekend your mission is to:

create & check off an item on your own splendor in the grass to-do list (or just use the above one!)

i would love to see and hear about what you do.  so grab your camera and take a pic of your splendor in the grass activity or to-do list!  make sure you go to OSR’s facebook page and post your pics so we can all see!

have a wonderful weekend everyone!  can’t wait to see your splendor in the grass activites!!

{all that glitters}

modern interior design

welcome back – hope you all had a great weekend! we survived the snowstorm by staying huddled inside this weekend doing projects around the house and watching movies. but i have to admit, i’m feeling a bit stir crazy! so i’m stepping out of my comfort zone and into all things sparkly and glittery – where disco balls are the norm and sequins aren’t just for costumes!

(i have to admit that i love the sparkly disco ball hanging around in the fireplace – too cool!)

{makes me want to get married…again}

happy monday everyone!  did you have a good weekend?  we ended up taking our tree down…sigh.  hello, cold, gray january! once the holidays are over, i’m ready for spring :)

i spent some time this weekend looking and searching for new products for the store.  one of the artists i already stock – keep calm gallery – has come out with these awesomely cool his + her tea towels that make me want to get married…again. (they’ll soon be on the store site!)  which got me thinking how often this happens to me!  i come across some gorgeous flowers or beautiful letterpress invites and it makes me want to plan another wedding since i had so much fun the first time around – plus, without gushing too much (oh, who am i kidding…i’m gushing!!), it was the best, most beautiful day of my life.

(one of these days i’ll have to share that day with you guys – but this would require me to get all our wedding photos scanned – yeah, it was awhile ago!  and while we’re talking,  i feel that it should be acceptable in society to keep having weddings every 5 years or so – who’s with me?!)

hope you enjoy this collection of items & images that makes me want to head down the aisle again…

{splendid willow avenue}

ilse jacobsen boots

i only have one word to say…

WOW!!

ok, so i have several more words to say about my lovely friend monika’s new shop splendid willow avenue – but i’m pretty sure that that is the word i gasped when i saw her site!!  those boots…to die for!  they immediately went on my christmas list (hint hint to the hubby!!)

splendid willow avenue carries these lovely, vibrant boots by scandinavian designer ilse jacobsen, as well as, her beautiful soft shell raincoats.  i think you’ll be asking the same thing i am – which color should i get??!

{coming soon…}

we’re half way through the week!!  i just wanted to pop in and let you know that i’ve added some new shots to the store website. coming soon will be a post on the gorgeous house where these pictures were taken…my friend sharon was kind enough to offer up her place…wait until you see her robin’s egg blue bathtub (think she’d noticed if i took it?!)

the things i want to share with you are starting to pile up – photos of my office (yes, we’re STILL painting the table), results of the survey, some behind the scene shots.  unfortunately, my assistants (aka “the dogs”) have not been keeping up with the workload – they seem to be more concerned about when their next meal is.

AND, last but not least, get ready…these beauties will be in the shop shortly!!!
