{san francisco treat vs. midwest delight}

morning everyone! before i tell you about this weekend, i have to interrupt my own post to say…HOLY SNOW, BATMAN! we’re buried in it – and apparently we haven’t seen the worst of it yet. time to bust out the winter boots!! (and gloves, hat, scarf, not to mention a shovel to dig ourselves out!)

luckily the snow didn’t hit until i was home from my weekend trip. so i can thank my lucky stars because it was a weekend not to be missed. just to refresh – my friends had the not-so-easy challenge of creating san francisco without actually traveling there. not an easy feat – and i have to say that sure, it would have been amazingly cool to actually go to san fran – but it’s really cool to see the creativity and really, it’s just about spending time and having fun, right!

so the theme for the day was “san francisco treat vs. midwest delight”. first up was packing ourselves in a car and getting on the road. at this point i had no idea where we were going, but it soon became obvious that we were headed to cincinnati. (makes sense – cincinnati at least has hills!) i had 3 envelopes to open once we got there…and 3 places to go to create that san francisco feel. i’ll let the photos do the talking – see if you can guess what these would be in san fran!!

{dreaming of san francisco}

those of you who have been following me, may remember that back in april i got creative and had a “new york city” weekend with friends…in cleveland. basically it boiled down to this…years ago, my close friends from college and i decided that it would be fun to go big for our milemarker birthdays. so we all picked a city (mine was san francisco) and said that we’d all travel there together for that person’s birthday. well, wouldn’t you know it, life got in the way – babies, husbands being deployed, store launch (actually i think in this case, our eyes were bigger than our stomaches, so to speak! what were we thinking?? 3 major trips in a matter of like 2 years!)

so to make a long story short – we decided we’d have to be creative (hence the “new york city in cleveland” weekend back in april). well, my birthday is coming up (on the 19th) and i’m off to columbus this weekend to find out how my friends will be giving me “san francisco” – should be interesting to say the least!!
