{fresh start}

happy new years everyone!! here we go 2011!! my favorite thing about a new year is the feeling of a fresh start. i’m not much for resolutions since within 2 weeks i usually break them anyway! i’m more about the idea of a fresh start or a clean slate for the new year…it gives me a chance to try and figure everything out again (basically, everything resets to zero which feels very freeing!) confession time – when the new year comes around, i love books like simple abundance that give you ideas for each day or week – but again i think every year i only get through the first month!

so here’s to a fresh start in 2011! for me that fresh start includes de-cluttering and getting my office in shape (yes, sadly i’m still working on it!!) and trying to live a less rigid, more simplified life!

how about you guys – do you come up with resolutions or are you anti-resolution?

{black + white and cool all over}

is it really almost the end of september?? where did this month go? i hope you all had a fantastic weekend. i managed to sneak in a little love “note” for my hubby while he was busy painting (for my office no less). but i definitely scored some points with my little note! (and i’ve always wanted to light that many candles – they actually acted like a space heater since it was so darn cold yesterday!) so, in keeping with my photo, here’s some black and white inspiration to kick off the week…

happy friday everyone! i had to share my favorite interior from the june/july issue of lonny magazine (it’s the home of ari heckman, the founder of design firm ash…check out their portfolio, gorgeous). i’m just in love with all the eclectic and stylish art displays and vignettes - and the i.o.u sign is too cool!
