{squirt & skootch cards}

edgy cards

hello everyone!

so you may have noticed a lag in blog posts – i didn’t drop off the face of the earth, but i am realizing that things are too hectic to keep up regular posts during the holidays (yet again, i’m forced to realize i can’t do everything…le sigh:).  i miss blogging though!  so…i thought i’d shoot for just doing friday posts & share what i’ve come across that week.

and yes, i know today is monday – but i wanted to share with you guys my friend kendall’s new website!!  i met kendall about the time she was just starting her card company squirt & skootch (fun name, right?? that’s their nicknames!)  i think we bonded over having new businesses and our general goofiness & craziness!  she’s as fun & down to earth as you would think from reading her cards!

it’s so exciting to see how far she’s come with squirt & skootch – you have to check out all her cards, they’re a riot!!  they’re completely edgy, fun & will definitely catch you off guard which is exactly the point!

(woot woot, how fun is this…i nabbed the testimonial quote on the front page!  thanks kendall :)

cool modern gifts

gotta love the blog world, right?  it’s been the best way to meet amazing, creative people.  like maria from thirsty goods.  we “met” during an online class when i realized that she was from the same city as me.  well, lo & behold, after emailing, i found out we’re both westsiders in cleveland!  we met for coffee and the rest, as they say, is history!

so i’ve been wanting to do a post on her new shop, thirsty goods.  i love the idea behind it…”thirsty™ is a designed goods brand dedicated to creating things that make people feel good and do better.”  count me in!

and check out this video her hubby put together of maria creating a limited edition letterpress poster to honor one of her favorite teachers & his favorite expression – i’m pretty sure i need to have a video made now!!

{it’s not too late…}

holiday cards on sale

hi everyone!  how was your holiday weekend?  was santa good to you?   i have to say that santa (aka my hubby) was very good to me…he got me the most beautiful, thoughtful, reduce me to a teary-eyed mess gift this year.  i had no idea which made it that much better!!  he got me a gorgeous charm bracelet and he hand-picked each charm so they all had meaning …i don’t think i was that good this year!  (the best one is this charm that you open to find out it’s a laptop!!  are ya kidding me?!)

ok, i’m done gushing!  you have to tell me – what was your favorite gift?

and if you’re wondering about the title of this post…it’s not too late to send out holiday cards!  we just got ours out last week – in my book, you’ve got until at least the first week of january!  and even better news?  they’re on sale! check them out along with some other beauties on sale.

{gift wrapping + birthday time!}

confession time – i just started christmas shopping.  sadly this year i think i’m going to be one of those crazed shoppers on dec.24th that finds out everything is sold out.  (luckily i do most of my shopping online)  the good news is that it makes it much easier to shop when you have your own store!  (except for the guys in my life – why can’t they have tea towels and pillows on their wishlists??)

which brings me to my next point – color theme.  yes, i’m one of those people that likes to have a color theme for the tree and gift wrap (it’s the wannabe interior designer in me – or the crazy in me)  but it’s become a tradition – and i’d hate to disappoint all the people that ask “so what’s the color theme this year?”  thanks for asking – it’s green, white + brown :)

but i may have to rethink this whole theme idea because of all these fun, cool wrapping paper designs i keep coming across!  the cute and charming fox and beluga prints (shown below) are from brand new shop the nimbus factory – it’s comprised of 2 designers and 2 illustrators and then switch up the designer/illustrator pairings to keep things fresh.  cool!  and even cooler? 2 of these creative gals are from cleveland!!

so i must ask – do you decorate your tree with a theme or is it a free-for-all?

have a wonderful weekend – it’s my birthday this weekend (the 19th) so i’ll be celebrating – all weekend :) !!

{boo…halloween cards}

cool halloween cards

a little collection of halloween cards.  since we’ve moved to our house a few years ago, passing out candy on halloween has become a bit of a mystery – as in, how much candy do we need to get?!  last year, we went through 10 bags of candy in only 45 minutes!!  we had to slink back in the house and quickly turn off our lights.  we’re thinking we may have to give out the dreaded pennies this year to keep up with demand! (grin)

what candy (or item) was your least favorite to receive when trick or treating?  remember necco wafers?  those went right to the giveaway pile for me!

{emergency card kit}

do you ever have grand plans that somehow never come to fruition?  one of mine was to have an accordion file filled with cards for any and every occasion (organized, of course!).  right now, i only have a box stuffed with cards, notecards, stationery and miscellaneous items – basically a hodge-podge of who knows what’s in there!

so i’m thinking i could start with this awesome emergency card kit from design army – love it!

[you can check out these other great designs from design army via felt and wire shop]

{calling cards from haus interior}

if only i’d have the balls to actually use these calling cards from haus interior on people who don’t let you get a word in edgewise!  so fun

i just have to say you guys are the best…thanks for making me happy to be back from vacation with all your sweet comments!

btw, i wanted to say how excited i am for next week’s alphabet walk blog hop!!  i can’t WAIT to see what you all come up with.

click HERE for the full blog hop schedule…we kick it off on monday with letters a-e!!!  make sure you hop around to see everyone’s photos!  (and since everyone was so excited about it, we may have to do another one!!)
